Austin, TX – What a season it’s been for the Greater East Austin Youth Association (GEAYA)! Spring 2025 marked one of the most successful seasons in the league’s history, with record-breaking participation from families across East Austin. This season, GEAYA proudly fielded six Tee Ball teams, two Coach Pitch teams, one Minors team, and two Majors teams—bringing together more than 140 young athletes playing and their families participating in East Austin Little League.
"We are small but growing," said Coach Lee Dawson Jr., President of GEAYA Little League. "We are living up to our motto, ‘Youth is our business,’ by focusing our efforts on youth development and a love of sport.”
The regular season came to a high-energy close on Saturday, May 31, when all GEAYA teams took the field at Mabson Field for a full day of baseball. With a DJ spinning tunes and families gathered in celebration, six action-packed games took place from morning until evening. Every player was honored with a trophy for their effort, teamwork, and dedication.
“It’s a long day and we had a great time,” said Coach Emaan Abdelbaki, GEAYA board member and coach. “I participated in three games, and the smiles on our players’ faces were unforgettable. They worked so hard all season and got to celebrate it all on the field.”
But the season isn’t quite over yet. For the first time in more than 8 years, GEAYA is competing in the District 11 Little League City Tournament, entering teams in the 7-year-old, 8-year-old, and 9–10-year-old divisions.
“The most important thing is for our players to have fun and experience tournament play,” said Coach Lee. “I think we’ve given them both.”
GEAYA’s 7-year-old team kicks off tournament play on Thursday, June 6 at 7 PM at Northwest Field Three in North Austin. With a double-elimination format, each team is guaranteed at least two games—providing valuable experience heading into the fall season.
Fall registration is now open at geaya.org, with the new season set to begin just before Austin ISD’s school year. Families are encouraged to register early and continue building the community of youth baseball in East Austin.
