Celebrates Local Scout’s Eagle Project Supporting East Austin Little League

November 21, 2025, Austin, TX — The Greater East Austin Youth Association (GEAYA) is proud to recognize Colton Stevens, a junior at Westlake High School and Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 31, for completing a community project that directly improves the experience of young athletes in East Austin.

As part of his final requirement to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, Colton designed and executed a service project benefiting the Greater East Austin Little League. Inspired by his own childhood memories playing baseball at Mabson Field with Western Hills Little League, Colton chose to fundraise, purchase, and install new helmet and bat storage racks in the dugouts at Mabson Field — a project that now supports hundreds of GEAYA players each year.

Beginning in spring 2025, Colton collaborated with GEAYA leaders Coach Lee Dawson Jr. and Coach Emaan Abdelbaki to plan and approve the project. After securing donations, organizing volunteers from Troop 31, and coordinating with vendors, Colton successfully completed the installation this season.

“It was an honor to help Colton with his project,” said Coach Abdelbaki. “He is focused, driven, and follows through. Our players are already benefiting from his hard work.”

Coach Dawson Jr. added, “Colton and Troop 31 came in with a plan, executed it, and created something lasting for our kids. We are extremely grateful.”

Colton’s project demonstrates leadership, service, and a commitment to giving back — values that align closely with the mission of GEAYA and East Austin’s long-standing baseball community. He is expected to earn his Eagle Scout rank later this year or in early 2026.

“The entire GEAYA Family says thank you,” said Coach Dawson. “This is exactly what community looks like.”
