Greater East Austin Youth Association (GEAYA) Celebrates Landmark 2026 Opening Day at Historic Mabson Field
AUSTIN, TX – The Greater East Austin Youth Association (GEAYA) officially launched its Spring 2026 baseball and softball season this past weekend with a vibrant Opening Day celebration at Mabson Field.
The day was highlighted by the first hit as The Blueberries (TB03) took on The Bluebonnets (TB01) in a thrilling tie that ended in 100 to 100! As it goes, all Tee Ball games somehow ended in a score of 100 to 100! Each game showcased talent across all divisions, from Tee Ball to the Majors. This season holds particular significance as GEAYA’s largest number of teams taking the field with 13 teams!
"Opening Day is always the highlight of our year," said Coach Lee Dawson Jr., President of GEAYA. "Seeing the energy at Mabson Field reminds us why we do this. It’s about more than just baseball; it’s about the families and the future of East Austin."
"We are continuing our mission to provide accessible, high-quality athletic programs in East Austin," added Coach Emaan Abdelbaki, GEAYA Board Member.
GEAYA would like to extend a special thank you to Coach Nick Berard for his incredible work capturing the spirit of the day. His professional photography, which can be viewed in our
