Volunteer Opportunities

There are numerous ways you can volunteer with GEAYA. You can be a head coach, assistant coach, team parent, Opening Day Ceremony Committee lead or member, Equipment Swap Committee lead or member, or a Camp committee member.

Every calendar year, ALL volunteers MUST have a background check completed before they can interact with players on or off the field. GEAYA performs the background check. This takes about a week, so please be patient with this process.

Spring Baseball and Softball

• Registration opens on December 1^st and closes on March 10^th before the season starts. On February 14th, a $15 late fee is added to the registration fee.
• Parents’ Meeting: We’ll hold a parents’ meeting at Mabson Field one week before the first practice.
• Practices begin in February as weather allows—we know how Austin weather can be in February! You will receive communication from GEAYA and your coach(es) regarding the start date.
• First Game is typically in mid-March (usually the third Saturday). This can change due to game alignments with other leagues. GEAYA will communicate the start of the season as best we can once the District schedules the games.
• Season Ends on the Saturday before Memorial Day.

Spring City Tournament

• The District holds a spring tournament each year that starts the first week after Memorial Day in June.
• First Game starts on or around June 1st. GEAYA can send one team for each age group in the tournament (provided we have 10–11 players per group).

Tournament Age Groups:

GEAYA will work with the coaching staff to verify if we have enough players to participate. The tournament lasts about 3 weeks and includes travel to different fields around Austin. More information will be available around the May timeframe each year.

Fall Baseball and Softball

• Registration opens on June 1st and closes on August 19th before the season starts.
• Parents’ Meeting: We’ll hold a parents’ meeting at Mabson Field one week before the first practice.
• Practices begin around the last week in July or the second week of August, depending on the weather. You will receive communication from GEAYA and your coach(es) regarding the specific start date.
• First Game is typically one week before Austin ISD’s first day of school. Games are played on Saturdays. This can change due to alignments with other leagues. GEAYA will communicate the start of the season as best we can once the District schedules the games.
• Season Ends on the Saturday on or around November 15th.
• No Fall Tournament.

GEAYA works hard to keep play costs low, ensuring parents are not financially burdened by registration fees. GEAYA currently offers one of the lowest registration fees in Austin for Little League.

• $55 per player for Spring registration (no sibling discounts)
• $55 per player for Fall registration (no sibling discounts)
• $70 per player late registration for Spring (starting March 6th)
• $70 per player late registration for Fall (starting August 1st)

What you need to buy for your player

As part of your registration fee, GEAYA provides your player with a team uniform that includes a hat, jersey, socks, and a belt. GEAYA has bats for each team, but you may purchase your own if you prefer. See below for information on what families need to provide and specific bat requirements.

• Baseball glove: If you are unable to purchase a glove, please contact us and we will work with you to get one for your player.
• Baseball helmet.
• Baseball pants with belt loops (typically gray): Your coach will let you know the specific team color.
• Non-breakable, refillable water bottle for practices and games.
• Sneakers or rubber/plastic cleats: No metal cleats allowed.
• Bat with a USA logo: USA bats are the ONLY bats approved by Little League. You do not need to purchase a bat (GEAYA provides them), but if you buy one, it must have this logo.

Bat Length and Weight

Bat Length: An easy way to determine the correct length is to place the knob of the bat at the center line of the player's chest and extend one arm sideways. The end of the bat should align with the tips of their fingers.

Bat Weight: We recommend drop -8 or -12 bats. The "drop" is the difference between the length (inches) and the weight (ounces). For example, a "drop 10" bat that is 28 inches long weighs 18 ounces (28 - 10 = 18).

GEAYA Little League

GEAYA is an official Little League baseball and softball program. Our home games are played at Mabson Field on 12th and Alexander Ave in East Austin. We are part of Texas District 11, which includes:
