When is opening day?

  • Currently, we're looking at two dates for opening day. We need to work with the other leagues to schedule all our teams at Mabson Field, which can be tricky to get right at the start of the season.

Potential Opening Day Ceremony Dates:

  • 3/16
  • 3/23
  • We'll know more as the season gets closer to starting.

Are we fundraising or attempting to travel?

  • We are always fundraising and looking for sponsors for GEAYA. If you know of a potential sponsor, please get with Coach Lee Dawson Jr. ([email protected]) or Emaan Abdelbaki ([email protected]).
  • We do not do tournament traveling currently. As we grow, we will look in to travel tournaments.
  • The only travel parents can expect is to travel to opposing team's fields for games

Do all kids need helmets?

  • Yes, players are not allowed to bat without a helmet. Parents need to purchase helmets for their players that meet Little League Standards
  • We don't provide helmets anymore post COVID, but we can work with you if you are financially unable to purchase a helmet for your player.

What does the league provide and what do I need to buy for my player(s)?

  • GEAYA will provide:
    • Socks
    • Belt
    • Hat
    • Jersey
    • You do not need to purchase a bat for your player. We have bats, balls and equipment to play and practice baseball and tee ball.
    • We don't provide helmets, but we can work with you if you are financially unable to purchase a helmet for your player.
  • Parents will provide:
    • Glove
    • Cleats/athletics shoes (high tops preferred)
    • Water bottle
    • Helmet
    • Bat if you'd like to purchase a bat for your player.

Does the helmet need a face guard?

  • No, but it's all about comfort level for your player. Purchase a helmet that has:
    • No face guard.
    • Chin guard
    • Face mask

I have a kid in tee ball also in major do you know what will be their colors?

  • At this time, we do not know what the team colors will be. We will have teams in red and team in royal blue, but which team is which, we are not sure yet.
  • Once we establish team jersey colors, we will let the teams know

Does the helmet need to be a certain color?

  • No, let your player choose their favorite color. GEAYA Colors are red and royal blue, but it is not required to match your helmet to either because you won't know the color of your jersey until before the season starts. You need to purchase a helmet for your player before practice starts.

Can I bring the medical release form on the first day of practice? Or who do I send it to?

  • Yes, please bring your signed med release forms to practice and hand them to your coach.

Are volunteer assistant coaches going to be working with their kids’ team or others?

  • Yes, you will be able to coach with your player, unless you decide to help coach a team your player is not on, which is also allowed and welcomed.

How can I sign up for coaching or volunteer long as we practice after 5PM?

  • You need to login to your GEAYA account, if you don't have one you must register for one and select to volunteer and your options for volunteering will appear.
  • If you have a player, that option will be there for you to select.
  • ALL VOLUNTEERS must pass a security background check conducted by Little League and DPI, Little League's background company.
  • Walk through the background verification form, upload all documents requested and select submit.
  • After you submit a volunteer request you will receive an email from DPI to finalize the verification process.
  • Click the link in that email and complete the process.
  • Checks can take up to 10 business days to complete.

Can girls play baseball at the Major's Level?

  • Yes, all our baseball programs are Co-Ed

Are there Parent Shirts available for the teams?

  • We are working on parent shirts you can purchase for an extra cost. We are hoping to have something in place before the season starts in March.

What is the game schedule and when do games start? Will games be on Saturdays? And do we know at about what time they play?

  • Spring season starts on either 3/16 or 3/23. This will depend on other leagues being ready. Typically, the spring season starts the Saturday before schools starts back up from Austin ISD's Spring Break.
  • Games are typically played on Saturdays between 9 AM And 5PM.
  • We will have games during the week, and we try to schedule those games to be played on practice nights to make it easier for parents. This does not always happen, but we try our best. Games during the week will start around 5:30 PM or later. We try not to have night games that start later than 7PM.

Will there be a softball season this year?

  • At this time, it does not appear that we have enough interest in softball to field teams this spring. Little League is seeing a drop in softball participation nationwide, and we're experiencing it as well.

What are the typical times for Saturday tee ball games?

  • Saturday games take place from 9 AM to 4PM typically. It is possible that a game may start after 4PM, but we will have the schedules posted and you'll be able to adjust your schedule around the games.
  • Tee Ball games typically happen in the mornings to ensure the kiddos are not too tired to play. Again, it is possible that a tee ball game may get scheduled in the afternoon.
  • We should receive the schedules just before the season starts in March.

Will there be a team Picture Day?

  • We are working with one of our volunteer parents to schedule a team picture day.
  • At this time, there would be a fee for pictures, but at cost.
  • More to come on this

Is there a snack rotation?

  • Snacks are not required, but we do ask parents to volunteer to bring snacks to team games for a nice treat for our players at the end of a game. Healthy snacks are requested and typically parents bring both a snack and a drink.
  • Your team parent and coach will help coordinate a snack signup sheet. Please consider volunteering to bring snacks for a game.

When we get the season calendar, could it include through the trophy ceremony and city tournament?

  • Yes, we understand families need to plan and we will include that trophy ceremony and explain when the tournament starts when we release the schedule.
  • The City Tournament schedule is created by the League heads and is not completed until the season ends. The tournament starts almost immediately post season. We'll distribute as much information as we have at the time the season schedule is released.

How many innings do they play in Tee Ball?

  • Tee Ball games last 60 minutes so we try to get as many innings in as we can in that time. Little League has found that games longer than 60 minutes can cause players to lose interest.
